Valuable technology innovations are readily available however; the procurement of these technologies is not for free, it requires COST. Sophisticated machineries are even used to maximize the production of companies, not only in manufacturing companies but also technology is also available in learning institutions like school. School is the basic foundation of learning therefore, enhanced technical facilities must be available for learning resources. It can also facilitate additional learning for the students. In detail, below are the reasons why we use technology today:
• Learning Requirement – In some courses that requires technical facilities and enhanced laboratory, the institution must take into consideration on acquiring enhanced technologies for the advantage of the students and for the exposure of everyone to the related innovations that can be applied in the real field of specialization. These technologies are essential source of knowledge. Also, it must be considered somehow that the technologies available in the school are not outdated, because as what we can observe today, the trend of technology is getting higher.

• Better Communication – As we all know, communication is one of the essential parts of living without it, misunderstanding often comes between individuals. The internet paved the way for a better communication across people in other countries. With the help of this technology people can be as closer as how it should be. Better communications leads the way for better understanding, with communication we build partnership, with communication we make a difference.


• Demands in Business – In business, it is not enough to have a business model to follow. Business should include production resources for technical requirements. Technical requirements include sophisticated machines to maximize the process thus, maximizing profit. Acquiring relevant technologies will lead the business in the cutting edge. Competition in the market is very critical that’s why business owners must take into the consideration on the acquirement of technologies as what the business itself demands.




•Relevant Opportunities – Acquirement of technology leads to relevant opportunities, relevant to the technology itself. Like for instance a laptop, a student having the said gadget have the opportunity to open up their minds and work on related things that the said gadget can hold. Also, the opportunity to be exposed in a vast of information resources. But then again, these opportunities always involve cost however, there are a lot of ways and means to acquire technology lesser than the most required cost of acquirement.

•The functionalities – In acquiring related technology, we don’t only consider its value or the cost but most importantly we consider the functionalities. Ideally, we consider the functionalities because these functions are those that cope with our needs. In other words, acquirement of technology is interdependent on the needs or the demand of the current situation.

Acquirement of technology caused by known influences, these influences lead people to engage related technology for coping up some needs. One known influence is the FEATURES/FUNCTIONALITIES of a specific technology. Years before, people tend to manage their works manually however, as the enhanced technology were introduced in the masses and by looking into the functionalities people then realize that those functions will suit on the current needs of the situation. Later, sophisticated related technologies were introduced, the people continue to acquire based on the basic needs. Another influence is the WAY OF LIVING, even how expensive technologies can be people always acquire things because these set of people merely believe that acquiring these technologies greatly and positively affects the way of their living. Since these people are fortunate enough of the chance to buy things, in turn they also have the greater opportunity to be updated and carry the advantage that these technologies can hold.

Factors affecting the technology change involves, DEMANDS, and HUMAN CAPACITY to work. Way of living, business processes, production are known demands which contribute to the technology change. Human capacity to work is not enough to fulfil related tasks, there are task which a man cannot handle and only sophisticated machines can handle. Human capacity to work is one of the factors which greatly affect technology changes.

Technology has various definitions which intersect in its core meaning, application of science. The issue between Science and technology is still debatable but it’s not my concern here. Throughout the years, technology has been and always innovating. This is because people cite problems to solve and also discontentment of the present technologies. Reasons why we use technology today are apparently talking on the advantages of technology.

Here are some:
1. To improve the quality of life- the primary reason
2. To work more efficiently
3. To use time wisely
4. To ease work
5. To benefit economically
6. To be entertained anytime, anywhere
7. To have better communication
8. To grow a social life
9. To express thyself
10. Medicinal, weaponry and machineries advantage, among others.

The success and failure of technologies is on the viewpoint of the people. I just hope that time won’t come when terminators dominate the human race and humans will not be as lazy as portrayed in Wall-E. Of course, this depends on the minds and thoughts of the people. If there’s no selfishness and conspiracy then there’s no fear in it. The advantages and disadvantages will always depend on how the people will use and develop it. Technology, keep on innovating.

What Influence Us

The things that influence us are the following:
1. Media- it has played a vital role on influencing people on the use of technology. The coverage of media is very broad that it reaches different types of people.
2. Advertisement- the products that businesses sell is presented enlisting the benefits of having a certain technology. Showcasing the charms of the influenced an artists, people are encouraged to use the technology.
3. Sense of Belongingness- people use technology because they want to be in with “What is hot!”
4. Social Status- before having precious stones and property identify the status of a a person but now, not only these but the technology identifies the class of a person in the society.
5. Discontentment- people are actually discontent in everything. They try to improve the things on their grasp. In this sense, the technology will keep on changing.
6. Change- it’s the permanent thing and it’s natural. People change as technology does. This influenced us to innovate and improve things.

Technology Change

Technological change also means technological advancement, technological achievement, technological progress and technological development. Technology innovates and develops from time to time. What really are the factors of technological change? Or what drives the change? In the Wikipedia, MacKenzie and Wajcman in their “social determination of technology” proved that the socials and the elite that actually sustained the change” (Green,2001,pp. 1-20).

Green(2001) considered four factors that encourages technology change which are Intellectual agenda, economic, politics, and existing infrastructure.

1. Intellectual agenda from the elites make technology change possible. The elites can create new technology since they can afford the limited knowledge. Because of this, technology is not considered neutral. In the simple sense who can afford technology can only access it.
2. Corporations that are interested in gaining more profits naturally invest on the advancement of technology. Thus, they provide financial assistance to the elites who experimented on the innovations of the technology. It is just a matter of give and take.
3. Government exerts its power and publishes laws to guarantee that investment can process properly, such as copyright. If government will not be involved, then there’s chaos.
4. Globalization but a cause and effect of technological change.
